Sarah Rees Brennan, author of Demon's Lexicon, our November Book of the Month just posted a ghost story on Saundra Mitchell's Trick Or Treat challenge. Saundra is the author of Shadowed Summer which is full of "atmosphere, mystery and interconnected love triangles". Hmm, sounds like a Mundie Moms book, alright.
Here's an excerpt from the beginning of Sarah's story-
They say I look just like her.
The dead aunt, my father’s sister, the one who got sick and died. In mysterious circumstances. She was just so sad. And so sick.
It was a tragedy.
Once, I didn’t see why they kept telling me I looked like a tragedy.
Before they pulled down my grandmother’s house, turned it into a skeleton with a red-brick facade, and then more horribly still a hotel, I saw her ghost everywhere. Peeping at me with sepia eyes, wearing orange dresses I would never wear. My Aunt Margaret.
She did look just like me. And like me, she was always laughing. She kept the secret of her misery well, in all the pictures. I always keep my secrets too.
